One Room Challenge- Week 4

May 29, 2021

It’s the halfway point of the One Room Challenge! As most people who have participated say, you think you have plenty of time to complete your project, then before you know it, you’re out of time! I definitely feel that as the first few weeks felt a little slow moving and I still have a lot to do. With this weekend being Memorial Day weekend and my family going to the beach Wednesday-Monday, I wasn’t able to really accomplish much more in Nellie’s room. I ALMOST finished putting the sheets up, with the exception of the small corner behind her doors. I have the boards cut, but the only reason I really didn’t have time to put those up is because before I started working on her room, I took off the baseboards in that small corner to see how hard it would be to remove baseboards. It wasn’t too hard, but I still decided not to remove the rest and to just roll with the existing baseboards. However, I somehow misplaced/lost the baseboards, so I had to run out and buy new boards. I didn’t have time to cut or install them, so that little corner is the only one without beadboard.

I did get started on Nellie’s DIY jujuhat for her wall, but of course, I ran out of feathers. So, to be continued…

My plan for the week we get home is to start installing wallpaper. I plan to do that before caulking the boards because my mom will be in town, so it’s my best chance for uninterrupted work time. Well, anyway, since we’re at the beach, I thought I would just share some of the pieces I bought for decorating Nellie’s room.

I chose this simple mirror because there will be a lot going on with the bead board, wallpaper, and some textiles I’m adding.
I debated between two stools and this type of chest for the end of Nellie’s bed. I ended up choosing the woven chest since I like the texture it adds and the extra storage space it provides.
I just thought this woven Moses bassinet was the cutest little accessory for her to play with with her dolls. I love that it’s neutral, yet adorable, and will add more beautiful texture to her room.
This is a quilt that I’m actually surprised I like. Haha! Nellie’s rug is mauve, and I wanted to add a complimentary color and some additional pattern to her bed. This quilt is honestly more for style than it is for function, though obviously it is a real quilt so she can use it as such if she wants. I already have white Beddy’s for her, so I plan to just place this on the foot of her bed.

I plan to share the rest of the details and accessories in my final reveal post, so stay tuned for that! Make sure to check the One Room Challenge blog to see what everyone else is up to!
